Organization
VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH, a company of the German Insurance Association (GDV), is divided into four operative divisions: Fire protection, security, training & information and the VdS publishing house.
History
The German insurance industry recognized very early that it is absolutely necessary for an active prevention of damages to keep risks to a minimum and to keep them insurable. Already almost 100 years ago, they founded the "Sprinkler monitoring center".
Accreditations
An accreditation is the confirmation by a third-party that formally shows that VdS has the competency and authority to carry out certain tests, evaluations and certifications of products and companies.
VdS is accredited by the German Akkreditierungsstelle Technik GmbH (DATech).
EC-Notification
VdS is a Notified Body acc. the Construction Products Directive CPD (Ref. No. 0786) and offers all modules of the proof of conformity procedure, including the issuing of the EU Conformity Certificate.
