Laboratory for fire detection technology and SHEV

Fire detection and alarm systems, integrated into a fire protection concept, provide a valuable contribution to the protection of persons and property. Besides detection of fires, alarming of persons and transferring the fire alarm to support instances, additional control tasks can be executed. Activation of extinguishing systems in conjunction with switching off or on of resources is a frequently used application. Our laboratory for fire detection technology tests both the individual building elements for fire detection systems and the correct operation thereof within a fire detection system in accordance with the guidelines. This requires co-ordination of the requirements and inspections with the laboratory for extinguishing installations, if the fire detection system is to be used to control other installations, like for instance extinguishing installations. In this case the complete function of the fire protection system is observed.

Besides this, inspection of equipment for fixed installations (also for fixed path conveyors) for fire protection in ventilation ducts and of electrical control systems for interlocks of doors and escape routes as well as smoke and heat exhaust ventilation systems is performed.

Tests are conducted in accordance with existing European standards of the Standards Series EN 54, and also in accordance with national and VdS guidelines.
