VdS-Certification of Quality Management Systems
Certification of quality management systems (QMS) according to DIN EN ISO 9001 is an important means of establishing trust, that the quality expected by the customer of VdS-approved products and services will be produced and maintained by VdS-approved installers.
For this reason VdS requires proof of a certified QM system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 within the framework of the approval procedure. VdS has expanded the service provision offer for certification of QM systems in 1991, and has been accredited as one of the first certifiers in Germany by the "Trägergemeinschaft für Akkreditierung GmbH (TGA)" in 1992. Since then more than 900 companies have been certified by VdS.
Today these companies are convinced that a QM system secures the specialist knowledge of their company, presents business processes more clearly and reduces costs. Prevention of errors in the development phase and fewer complaints and guarantee claims due to constantly high product and service quality are additional advantages of a functional QM system.
Manufacturers of products for the fire protection and security technology enjoy additional advantages from VdS certification of their QM system, because a combination of QM system certification and product certification by a single instance saves effort and costs. Installation companies also profit from these advantages because a specialist inspection of their business is combined with the assessment of their QM system.
