Regular revisions

Regular revisons of fire protection installations are performed similarly to the approval inspection, but also consider possible changes of risk in the meantime, to ensure that the efficiency of the installation will be fit for further operation.  Reasons for regular revisons are, for instance: Regulations of building supervision, agreements with the insurance company (for reduction of premiums) or just own interest in safety.

Regular revisons are performed to detect technical defects of the installation in good time. Last but not least they should identify potential problems caused by changes in utilisation and changes in construction boundaries. The operator can then rectify identified deficiencies before damage is done.

The high reliability of fire extinguishing systems in Germany can essentially be ascribed to these regular revisons of installations by the VdS Inspection Services.

In order to ensure the reliability of sprinkler installations after decades, for further prolonged periods, it is essential that influences of ageing of sprinklers and pipes are inspected. The VdS  Inspection Services offer an additional procedure for inspecting sprinkler installations after 25 years of operation.
