Security

The Security division checks and certifies products and systems from security technology as well as qualifies companies for planning, installation and maintenance of security technology and security services. VdS has laboratories for this equipped with the most modern technology where type and system tests of security technology products are carried out.

The staff of highly qualified experts is in constant contact with the police and the insurers in order to always be able to access current information on the working methods of perpetrators.

Requirements made of test institutes, as well as certification and inspection bodies, regarding quality assurance are described in EN ISO 17025 and EN 45000 ff. Institutes that meet the standards can thereby be tested by an independent body. The approval is then not designated as an approval or certification, but as an accreditation. The system of accredited test institutes has won through more and more, both nationally and internationally.

The departments of the Security division are accredited by the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle Technik e.V. (DATech) and by the Trägergemeinschaft für Akkreditierung GmbH (TGA). In addition to an increased level of trust from the customer, accreditation has the advantage that it is considerably easier between the test institutes and the certification and inspection bodies to be able to make test results more comparable and to thereby be able to mutually recognize them.

Accreditation is announced for the testing and certification of those products and service companies whose use and field of activity is not regulated by legal regulations (e.g. building ordinance, calibration law, etc.). In the "legally non-regulated field", the test and certification is then made on a voluntary basis, i.e. on request of the manufacturer or service provider.
