Technical organization and design

We work out fire protection concepts using real extinguishing tests as well as regulations and standards for the planning and installation of:

Fire extinguishing systems, e.g. sprinkler systems and gas extinguishing systems
Automatic fire alarm systems,
Smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system (SHEVS)

Furthermore, we are open to new extinguishing technologies and protection concepts. Time and again there are new extinguishing gases and even new system technologies with already known extinguishing gases that have not yet been gathered together in existing rules and regulations. New system technologies are often being offered in particular for special protective concepts. Our experts carry out the approval of new extinguishing technologies according to the rules of VdS 2562. This procedure allows the manufacturer to agree on his extinguishing technology with us in a timely manner and, even before collecting together this technology, to receive a certificate on the effectiveness of the fire extinguishing system in the single cases indicated by him. Requirement for approval is proof of the effectiveness of extinguishing and the reliability of the new extinguishing technology.

Within the framework of the European market, national laws must also be adapted. This includes the European regulations on pressure gas devices, implemented in the Pressure Device Directive and the Operational Safety Directive. Our staff is concentrating on the effects of these changes on plant-specific fire protection.

Furthermore, our specialists are developing software for the design of fire protection systems. These are programs for flow calculations and sizing of water and gas extinguishing systems that have already been used for many years by the planners and installers of these systems. Additionally, a software for measuring smoke and heat exhaust ventilation systems has also been developed.
